Liberty senior midfielder Kevin Mendoza has been named to the 2018 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I Atlantic Region team.
Mendoza, who was selected to the third team, becomes the first Liberty player to be named to the team since Uriah Bentick in 2012.
For the fourth straight year, Mendoza was voted to an all-conference team in 2018. The midfielder was named to the ASUN Conference first team, earning first team honors for the third consecutive season. The Mexico City, Mexico native earned first team All-Big South honors in both 2016 and 2017.
The senior midfielder led the ASUN Conference in points (29), points per game (2.07) and goals per game (0.86), while tying for the conference lead in goals (12). He also tied for third in the conference in assists (5).
In addition, Mendoza finished his year among the NCAA Division I leaders in several categories. He completed the year as the national leader in shot accuracy, putting 73 percent of his shot attempts on goal. He also ranked fifth in points per game, sixth in goals per game, 11th in total points and 12th in total goals.
Liberty's team captain, Mendoza, and Liberty finished the year 7-7-1 overall and were ranked 10th in the final regular season Atlantic Region poll.
