2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America Teams

Senior Agueda Moroni of the Liberty field hockey team has been selected to the 2018 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America first team.

The NFHCA honored 48 Division I field hockey student-athletes with first, second, or third team All-America recognition on Tuesday, with Moroni being voted as one of 16 first team All-Americans.

The Lady Flames have now featured four All-Americans in eight years of the program's existence, and Moroni is the first player in school history to be named a first team All-American. The Cordoba, Argentina, native is also the first two-time All-American in Liberty field hockey history.

"Being named as one of the nation's top 16 players is nothing short of impressive," stated Liberty Field Hockey Head Coach Nikki Parsley-Blocker. "Agui had a tremendous season for us and became a statistical leader in many of our offensive categories. I am proud to have coached such a hard-working individual."

During the 2018 season, Moroni established herself among the nation's best, while setting numerous school records in the process. She set program records for single-season goals (26), assists (14) and points (66), while finishing No. 1 in the nation in points per game (3.47), No. 2 in goals (26) and goals per game (1.37) and No. 7 in assists per game (0.74).

Moroni was named 2018 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and was a Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-South Region first team honoree. The senior garnered Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honors twice (Aug. 29, Oct. 3), BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times (Aug. 28, Sept. 3 and Oct. 1) and BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition on two occasions (Sept. 24 and Oct. 29).

Moroni helped the Lady Flames to 13 wins in 2018, their most in a season since 2014, including four wins over ranked opponents (No. 7 Virginia, No. 11 Boston College, No. 17 James Madison and No. 22 Old Dominion).

The senior scored three goals in four games and recorded eight multiple-goal games in 2018. She tallied four or more points 10 times on the season. Moroni and Liberty (13-6) finished as the runner-up at the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, with the senior earning BIG EAST All-Tournament team recognition.

Moroni also set new program records for career goals (55) and career points (135) despite playing for only three seasons at Liberty. She achieved both of those records against UConn in the championship game at the BIG EAST Tournament on Nov. 4 with her one-goal, two-assist, four-point effort in the final match of her career.
