ASUN Newcomer of the Week Emily Lytle
Liberty redshirt sophomore forward Emily Lytle scored 24 points in her Lady Flames debut at Bethune-Cookman, including three free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining which sent Friday's season opener into overtime. As a result, she was named ASUN Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday. A transfer from Little Rock, Lytle was playing her first game as a Lady Flame after sitting out the 2017-18 campaign. Her game-high 24 points were the most by a player making her Lady Flames debut since Devon Brown tallied 26 points against Winston-Salem State on Nov. 13, 2009.
The Memphis, Tenn., native hit a pair of three-pointers and shot 12-of-15 from the foul line on the evening. Her 12 free throws made are the most by a Lady Flame since Katelyn Adams made a dozen free throws at Saint Joseph's on Nov. 23, 2013.
Lytle and the Lady Flames (0-1) will play their first two home games of the 2018-19 season this week. Liberty will welcome Virginia Tech (2-0) to the Vines Center Tuesday at 6 p.m. and play host to Saint Francis (Pa.) (0-2) Saturday at 2 p.m.
