Juri went 3-0 in singles, this weekend.
Liberty freshman Farid Juri wrapped up a perfect 3-0 weekend in singles with a victory on the third and final day of competition at the Longhorn Invitational, Sunday at the Texas Tennis Center.
Juri, who hails from San Rafael, Argentina, defeated Anish Sriniketh of the St. Edward's Hilltoppers 6-0, 6-1. Juri closes out his first fall campaign with a 7-4 record in singles and 5-4 mark in doubles.
The Flames posted a 3-1 record in singles competition on Sunday and did not compete in any doubles bouts. For the weekend, Liberty won 11 total singles matches and six doubles contests at the 17-team tournament which featured nine ranked opponents.
"Everyone got better this weekend. We will build on this tournament heading into our spring preseason," said Flames head coach Derek Schwandt.
Also victorious on day three at the Texas Tennis Center were freshman Ian Sturgill and senior Eddie Gutierrez. Sturgill bested Louisville's Juan Paredes in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). The native of Madison Heights, Va., claimed two singles victories this weekend and went 9-4 in his first fall with the Flames.
Gutierrez took down Alvaro Verdu of Marquette in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. The Liberty senior closes his final fall season with 13 total victories (seven doubles, six singles).
The Flames' fall season has concluded. Collectively, Liberty won 59 singles matches and 20 doubles bouts during the fall.
Liberty's first match of the spring 2019 campaign will be on Jan. 18 at Miami, which finished No. 42 in the national rankings last season. The Flames' home opener will take place on Feb. 15 versus George Washington. Liberty's inaugural ASUN Conference dual match will be held on March 23 at Kennesaw State.
