• The Lady Flames, in their first year as ASUN Conference members, are scheduled to play seven games in Florida this season.

• Liberty and Bethune-Cookman each won 24 games in 2017-18. The Lady Flames swept the Big South regular-season and tournament titles, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Bethune-Cookman made a WNIT appearance after sharing the MEAC regular-season crown.

• Liberty will attempt to open its season with a road win for the third time in four years, following victories at Appalachian St. (2015-16) and Old Dominion (2017-18).

• Senior forward KK Barbour headlines the Lady Flames' returnees. She averaged 9.8 ppg and 5.8 rpg during a breakthrough junior season. Barbour was at her best at the end of the year, earning Big South Championship MVP honors and closing the season with eight straight games scoring in double figures.

Notes and Anecdotes - Liberty vs. Bethune-Cookman
• Liberty and Bethune-Cookman are meeting for the fifth time, but the two teams have not squared off since Dec. 8, 2002. That day, Agne Jasinksaite's 15 points led the Lady Flames to a 70-42 triumph on the second day of the East Carolina Tournament in Greenville, N.C.

• Liberty is 3-1 all-time against the Lady Wildcats, having won three straight matchups. That streak began with a 78-55 victory on Dec. 8, 1997 during the Lady Flames' only previous visit to Daytona Beach. Elena Kisseleva, Sarah Wilkerson and Sharon Wilkerson totaled 61 points as Liberty improved to 7-0 on its way to a 28-0 start to the 1997-98 season.

• Both Liberty and Bethune-Cookman are coming off of successful 24-win seasons. The Lady Flames swept the Big South regular-season and tournament titles on the way to the NCAA Tournament, while the Lady Wildcats shared the MEAC regular-season crown and qualified for the WNIT.

• Liberty was picked to finish second in its first season of ASUN Conference play, while Bethune-Cookman was voted second in the MEAC standings.

• Both teams excelled on the defensive end of the court a season ago. Liberty ranked No. 12 nationally for scoring defense (55.0 ppg), with Bethune-Cookman checking in at No. 27.

• Bethune-Cookman lost both of its matchups with ASUN foes in 2017-18, falling to Jacksonville and North Florida.

Liberty in the Sunshine State
• Liberty is 3-9 all-time when playing in Florida, but the Lady Flames have not visited the Sunshine State since Dec. 29-30, 2005. Liberty lost 73-50 to host Florida and defeated Rhode Island 67-57 at the State Farm Classic in Gainesville.

• Friday's game will mark the first of Liberty's seven regular-season contests in Florida this year. The Lady Flames will also head to St. Petersburg on Dec. 21 and 22 for matchups with UCF and Duquesne. Liberty's ASUN schedule will take the Lady Flames to Fort Myers (FGCU, Jan. 5), DeLand (Stetson, Jan. 8) and Jacksonville twice (Jacksonville, Jan. 26 and North Florida, Feb. 23).

• The Lady Flames are playing more games in the Sunshine State this season (7) than in Carey Green's first 19 seasons combined (4).

• Liberty is just 2-4 in its last six lid-lifters, but the Lady Flames have won their last two season openers that were played on the road. Liberty posted a 74-68 win at Appalachian State to start the 2015-16 season and a 63-55 Preseason WNIT victory at Old Dominion in its 2017-18 opener.

• The Lady Flames have only opened a season earlier than  Nov. 9 in the calendar year once. Liberty fell 66-56 at Charlotte on Nov. 8, 2013.

• Liberty is 31-11 all-time versus MEAC opponents (teams that were part of the conference at the time of the meeting).

• The Lady Flames have not faced a MEAC foe since Nov. 30, 2013. Facing Savannah State on day two of the Seton Hall Thanksgiving Classic, Liberty rallied from a 21-point deficit to post an 89-79 victory. Ashley Rininger led the way with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

• The Lady Flames' most recent visit to a MEAC arena resulted in an 81-74 setback at North Carolina A&T on Nov. 18, 2011.

• Liberty could face a second MEAC team this season on Nov. 25 in Bethlehem, Pa., depending on the results of the previous day's games. The Lady Flames face Charlotte, while MEAC squad Norfolk State battles host Lehigh on Nov. 24. The winning teams will square off on day two, with the losing teams also meeting one another.
