NFHCA Division I Senior Game Release

Liberty Lady Flames senior Agueda Moroni has been selected to compete in the 2018 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Game.

Moroni was one of 38 seniors chosen for the contest, along with 14 alternates. The game will be contested on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at Louisville's Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky., following the conclusion of the NCAA semifinal games on the day.

Moroni is enjoying the best season of her three-year Liberty career as a senior. The Cordoba, Argentina, native currently leads the nation in points per game (3.57) and is tied for the lead in goals per game (1.43) and total goals (20). She set a new school record for most goals in a season with 20 when she scored against No. 21 Wake Forest on Sept. 30. Moroni also established the new program record for single-season points (50) with an assist in a victory at No. 22 Old Dominion, Oct. 5.

Moroni has four three-goal games and has been named the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Offensive Player of the Week two times. She has also garnered BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week distinction three times.

In 51 career games (all starts), Moroni has tallied 49 goals (second in program history) and 119 points (second in school history). Moroni is tied for third among the NCAA's active career leaders in points per game (2.33).  In her time as a Lady Flame, she has scored eight game-winning goals, tied for the third most in Liberty field hockey history.

Moroni was a 2017 second team All-American, the third player in program history to be named an All-American. She is also a two-time NFHCA All-South Region selection, a two-time All-BIG EAST first team honoree and a two-time VaSID All-State selection.

Prior to Moroni's selection, Lady Flames twin sisters Bethany Barr and Serena Barr were selected to play in the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Game. In 2015, Liberty's Sarah Gipe represented the Lady Flames at the NFHCA Division I Senior Game.

Moroni and the 19th-ranked Lady Flames (10-4, 5-0 BIG EAST), who have already clinched a berth in the 2018 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, face a crucial road test tonight at UConn (12-3, 5-0 BIG EAST) at 6 p.m. The winner of Thursday's contest will take over sole possession of first place in the league with just one game remaining in the conference slate.
