After leading the Flames to a team victory and individually capturing medalist honors, Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs and Gabe Lench have been named this week's ASUN Conference Men's Golfers of the Week.
The pair shared medalist honors at the Intercollegiate at the Grove tournament early this week, posting a winning score of 8-under par 208 at The Grove Club (par 72, 7,368 yards).
The weekly conference honors are Liberty's first men's golf accolades during its first year as an ASUN member.
Both Liberty golfers carded a 6-under par 66 during the second round, which would have set a tournament record if Purdue's Jarle Volden did not post an 8-under par 64 later in the day on Monday.
Fuchs and Lench's strong play allowed Liberty to claim the team title, posting a three-stroke victory over South Florida with a 15-under par 849 (290-277-282).
The tournament field included three teams who were ranked into Top 50 in the latest Golfweek.com rankings (No. 12 Louisville, No. 27 Charleston and No. 39 South Florida). Among the 13 teams in the field was fellow ASUN Conference member Kennesaw State, who finished in sixth place with a 7-over par 871 (283-288-300).
