Fuchs and Lench Go Low at Intercollegiate at The Grove

A pair of near record-breaking rounds on Monday helped the Flames move into second place at the 2018 Intercollegiate at the Grove.

Senior Gabe Lench and junior Alexandre Fuchs both carded 6-under par 66 rounds during their second trip around the Grove Club (par 72, 7,368) at the Middle Tennessee hosted tournament. The rounds would have matched a tournament low 18-hole record if Purdue's Jarle Volden had not posted an 8-under par 64 during the late afternoon flight.

The Flames were one of four teams to post an under-par score on Monday and have moved into second place in the 13-team field. After 36 holes of play, Liberty's 9-under par 567 (290-277) trails South Florida's tournament leading score of 12-under par 564 (284-280).

The Flames and the Bulls will be the final two teams off the No. 1 tee (par 4, 421 yards) for tomorrow's final round, starting at 12:02 p.m. (CST).
