Liberty Notables

  • Liberty returns to ASUN Conference play, this weekend. The Flames will host NJIT in a conference match on Saturday, before traveling to Florida Gulf Coast  (FGCU) for an ASUN contest on Tuesday.
     
  • Liberty and NJIT will be meeting  for the first time in program history, Saturday.
     
  • Liberty forward Tresor Mbuyu leads the ASUN with 19  points and is tied for the lead with eight goals.
     
  • Flames midfielder Kevin Mendoza is currently leads the ASUN in points per game (2.12). He is second  in the conference with 17 points and seven points.Mendoza has scored at least one goal in each of the last four games.
     
  • Liberty leads the ASUN in scoring with a 2.44 goals per game average.
     
  • The Flames recorded their third shutout of 2018 at Longwood on Tuesday.
     
  • For the first time this season, Liberty had two players score two or more goals in a game in its 5-0 win at Longwood on Tuesday. Mbuyu and Mendoza netted two goals apiece in the victory.
     
  • Shaun Stocker netted his first goal of the season in Liberty's win at Longwood. Eight players have now scored  at least one goal for the Flames this season.
     
  • Brogan Engbers and James Knoebel have split time in the Liberty goal so far in 2018. Engbers has posted a 1.48 GAA, while Knoebel has a 1.58 GAA.
     
  • After Saturday's contest with NJIT, Liberty has one remaining home game left on its regular season schedule. Five out of the Flames' last six games will be played on the road. Liberty's lone home game is scheduled for Oct. 20 against Jacksonville.
     
  • After not playing a match in the state since 1999, Liberty returns to Florida for the third time this season on Tuesday.
