Wake Forest forward Alexis Grippo scored on a penalty stroke just over a minute into double overtime, giving the No. 21 Demon Deacons a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the No. 20 Liberty Lady Flames field hockey team on Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
Grippo's goal, her third of the year, came after Wake Forest (6-5) was awarded the penalty stroke 1:15 into the second overtime session. The Demon Deacons trailed 2-0 at halftime before storming back to tie up the contest and force overtime, prior to Grippo's eventual game-winner.
Liberty drops to 8-3 on the season and sees its five-match winning streak snapped. On Sunday, Lady Flames senior midfielder/forward Agueda Moroni set the new program record for most goals in a season with her 20th goal of the year.

Turning Point Trailing 2-0 at intermission, the Demon Deacons narrowed the deficit to 2-1 in the 42nd minute. Kelsey Gill scored on a rebound following a Wake Forest short corner attempt, her first goal of the season. Wake Forest's top goal scorer, Jule Grashoff, evened the match at 2-2 at 61:12. The Demon Deacon defense fended off two Liberty penalty corners in the final five minutes of regulation to force overtime.

Up Next Liberty will take on a pair of ranked foes next weekend. The Lady Flames will first travel to Old Dominion (7-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) for a BIG EAST matchup against the No. 16 Monarchs on Friday at 5 p.m. Next Sunday, Liberty welcomes the No. 1 team in the nation, the North Carolina Tar Heels (11-0, 4-0 ACC), to Lynchburg.
