Tournament Draws

The Liberty men's tennis team will host the Liberty University Invitational, Friday through Sunday on its home courts at the Cook Tennis Center.

All eight players on the Flames' 2018-19 roster will play at the event, which will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday.

"We'd like to invite Flames Nation to support us in our single home event of our fall season," said Liberty Men's Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt. "We are excited to get tested by some strong competition."

Participating Teams: Liberty, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Presbyterian, Radford, Gardner-Webb and Bluefield State
Flames Players Participating: William Barker, Chase Burton, Eddie Gutierrez, Farid Juri, Nicaise Muamba, Vince Salas, Ian Sturgill and Josh Wilson
Format: Bracket Play, Two Brackets for Singles, Two for Doubles | Draws will be posted once they are made available.

Tentative Weekend Schedule:
Friday, 1 p.m.
Doubles, singles to follow
Saturday, 9 a.m.
Doubles, followed by a morning singles session and an afternoon singles session that will start at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, 12 p.m.
Doubles, followed by singles

The Flames last competed Sept 7-9 at the Silverado Invitational in Napa, Calif., as well as at the ITF Canada F7 Futures event from Sept. 8-9.

Junior Chase Burton sports a 3-0 record this fall for the Flames, while freshman Ian Strugill is 2-0 in singles play. Senior Eddie Gutierrez (2-1) and sophomore Nicaise Muamba (3-2) also have winning records. Liberty is 11-7 (.611) combined in singles competition.

In 2017, the Flames also hosted the Liberty University Invitational on their home courts. At that event, Diego Castano and Alex Poynter won the White doubles division title.
