Liberty women's soccer will step on the field for the first time in 2018 as the Lady Flames host Virginia Tech on Friday, Aug. 10 at Osborne Stadium.
This will be the second straight year that Liberty will face the Hokies in an exhibition game. Last season, the Lady Flames traveled down to Blacksburg where the match resulted in a draw. This will be the first of four straight matches that Liberty will play at home to start the season. To kick off the 2018 regular season, Liberty will host Elon, George Washington and LSU for its only non-conference home matches.
This will be the first chance for fans to see Liberty's 10 new freshman on the squad. Liberty returns a veteran squad that is coming off a Big South regular season title. The Lady Flames bring back three All-Big South honorees in forward Gabrielle Farrell and the freshmen duo in Cora Duininck and Melody Jayroe.
The Lady Flames reported to campus for preseason on July 30 and have been going through two-a-days training. Wedemeyer was able to see his team in action other than training on Aug. 4 when the team participated in an intrasquad scrimmage.
Kick off against the Hokies is set for 6 p.m. at Osborne Stadium.
