2018-19 Liberty Women's Basketball Schedule (ASUN Games)

The defending Big South regular-season and tournament champion Liberty women's basketball team will play its first season as an ASUN Conference member in 2018-19. The Lady Flames' inaugural 16-game ASUN schedule was announced today.

Liberty will be challenged from the get-go in ASUN action, playing five of its first seven conference games away from the Vines Center. The Lady Flames will play road contests against each of the top four teams from the 2017-18 ASUN standings during that stretch, including a visit to reigning regular-season and tournament champion Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU) for Liberty's inaugural ASUN game on Jan. 5. The Lady Flames will also travel to second-place Jacksonville on Jan. 27, third-place Stetson on Jan. 8 and fourth-place Lipscomb on Jan. 29.

FGCU has been the ASUN's dominant team in recent years. The Eagles have captured eight of the conference's last 10 regular-season titles, going 157-13 in ASUN play during that span. FGCU has also cut down the nets as ASUN tournament champions in back-to-back seasons and in five of the last seven years overall. Liberty fans will get their first look at the Eagles on Feb. 9, when FGCU visits the Vines Center as part of a four-game homestand.

FGCU defeated Missouri in the first round of this year's NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, earning its second NCAA Tournament victory in the last four years. The Eagles topped Oklahoma State in a 2015 NCAA first-round matchup as a No. 7 seed. Three ASUN teams advanced to the postseason in 2018, also including Jacksonville (WNIT) and Stetson (WBI). North Alabama, in its final year as an NCAA Division II member, went 24-5 and qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship.

The 2019 ASUN Women's Basketball Championship will feature quarterfinals on March 8, semifinals on March 13 and the championship game on March 17. The top eight conference members participate, and each game is played on the home court of the higher-seeded team. Four of the last five ASUN title games have taken place at FGCU's Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.
