How He Got Here Rolle's last race saw him win the Bahamas U20 men's 400 hurdles national title on June 16, thanks to a 55.39 clocking.
The native of New Providence, Bahamas was the 2018 Big South men's 400 hurdles champion with a Liberty freshman-record and personal-best time of 52.10 seconds. That mark qualified Rolle for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet.
Rolle's top relay performance of the year came at the IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. He split 48.1 seconds for the 400-meter leg, helping Liberty place fourth with a Liberty and Big South all-time record 9:47.30 clocking.
Rolle displayed his all-around athletic ability during his freshman season at Liberty, as he placed fourth in both the Big South indoor high jump final and the Big South outdoor javelin final.
International Experience Rolle is no stranger to representing the Bahamas internationally. He previously competed in the 400 hurdles at the 2015 IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia and the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. However, he did not advance out of the first round either time.
Familiar Faces Although Rolle is the Bahamas' only representative in the men's 400 hurdles in Tampere, he will see some familiar faces from the collegiate scene. All three of the United States' men's 400 hurdlers were college freshmen in 2018, including Charles Brockman III (Mississippi State), Quivell Jordan (Houston) and Cory Poole (Florida). Brockman III and Poole each qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Keep an Eye on the Clock Rolle currently ranks No. 7 all-time among Liberty men's 400 hurdlers, trailing Mike Reed (50.52), Ryan Davis (51.23), Marlon Tanner (51.32), Gerald Swann (51.32), Tim O'Donnell (51.35) and Andre Washington (51.95).
If Rolle runs well, he could take aim at the Bahamas junior national record for the 400 hurdles, Nathan Arnett's 51.11 performance in 2007.
