Jonathan Embry, Zach Brockman and Cam Locklear have been selected to participate in the 2018 CPL All-Star game.

Liberty baseball's Jonathan Embry, Cam Locklear and Zach Brockman have been selected to play in the 2018 Coastal Plains League (CPL) All-Star game. The contest will be held July 9 at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium in Lexington, S.C.

Embry, who for the second consecutive summer is playing for the Peninsula Pilots, will start this year's game at catcher for the American team. It will be the rising junior's second CPL All-Star game start after earning the honor at third base last summer.

Shortstop Locklear joins Embry on the American team as a reserve, representing the Holly Springs Salamanders. Meanwhile, right-hander Brockman has been named to the National squad, representing the Savannah Bananas.

Due to the league's new four division structure this season, players have been separated by conference with the National All-Stars being made up of the South and West Division and the American All-Stars coming from the North and East. The 20th CPL All-Star game will feature representatives from the league's 16 teams located in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players from across the nation to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats.

In 2018, Embry split time at catcher and outfield for the Flames. The rising redshirt junior hit .239 with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 58 games, 57 which were starts. He led Liberty with 16 doubles and hit six home runs. He was named to the 2018 Big South All-Tournament team.

This summer, Embry has batted .273 with nine RBI and 22 runs scored, ranking second in the league, for Peninsula in 24 games. He leads the CPL with 26 walks and is fourth in the league with a .462 on base percentage. The Pilots finished in first place in the North Division of the CPL's first half standings.

Locklear batted .258 with 33 RBI and 38 runs scored in 2018 for Liberty. The shortstop had 10 doubles and belted four home runs. He posted the longest hitting streak by a Flame in 2018 of 11 games.

A junior this fall, Locklear has hit .299 with 11 RBI and is tied with Embry for second in the CPL with 22 runs in 23 games for Holly Springs, this summer. The shortstop is among the league leaders in stolen bases with 11.

In his first season of college baseball, Brockman posted a 2-2 mark with a 6.64 ERA over 39 1/3 innings in 20 appearances. He struck out 32 and walked 26.

Brockman, a starter for Savannah this summer, has a 2-1 record with a 2.05 ERA over 26 1/3 innings in five starts. The right-hander has struck out 31 and walked nine. He has posted the fourth lowest ERA in the league and is fifth in strikeouts and innings pitched. The Bananas finished in first place in South Division of the CPL's first half standings.
