Oracle/ITA Division I Rankings: Atlantic Region
The Liberty doubles pairing of Rebekah Anderson and Grace Hashiguchi closed out the 2017-18 campaign as the No. 5 doubles unit in the Oracle/ITA Division I Regional Rankings for the Atlantic Region.
"Bekah and Grace were the model of consistency this year," stated Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren. "Their games complemented each other well, and they didn't give away points, which made them tough to beat. I knew we could count on them to get the job done for us."
Both players were being honored in the regional rankings for the first time in their respective careers. The duo did not assemble until the spring season (first match was Feb. 4) but won 16 matches during the spring against just two losses. For their efforts, they were honored on the Big South Conference Second Team All-Conference doubles list.
Anderson, a junior from Fullerton, Calif., and Hashiguchi, a freshman from Rockville, Md., posted a perfect 7-0 record in Big South regular-season doubles matches and captured their final 10 matches of the season, six of which came by a 6-2 margin or better.
The duo held the best No. 3 doubles winning percentage (.882, 15-2) in the conference and finished second overall in winning percentage (.889, 16-2) in the Big South among all doubles pairings. With their .889 winning percentage, Anderson and Hashiguchi rank No. 3 all time in program history for single-season doubles winning percentage (minimum 10 wins).
Anderson and Hashiguchi are in good company, as the other top-10 doubles pairings in the Atlantic Region hail from No. 23 Virginia, No. 45 William & Mary, No. 47 Virginia Tech, No. 69 Maryland and Delaware.
