Lemmi is now the Lady Flames' associate head coach.
Liberty's Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren has announced the promotion of Giancarlo Lemmi to associate head coach for the Lady Flames.
"Coach Lemmi has played an integral role in the development of the program," Maren stated. "His passion for Liberty and our team is infectious. I have no doubt that with his help, we will continue to climb to new heights!"
Lemmi has been the Liberty women's tennis assistant coach for the past five years following a distinguished four-year (2009-12) playing career for the Flames' men's tennis team. During those five seasons, Lemmi has helped the Lady Flames to a 79-45 overall record, including a 36-7 mark in Big South Conference regular-season matches.
Under Lemmi's tutelage, the Lady Flames have made the finals of the Big South Women's Tennis Championship in two of the past three seasons (2016, 2018) and earned a share of the Big South regular-season crown in both 2016 and 2017. Liberty has qualified for the semifinals or finals of the Big South in all five of Lemmi's years as a full-time assistant coach with the program.
Lemmi has also been a part of Liberty's two winningest campaigns in program history – 19 victories in 2015 and 18 victories in 2018. He has coached 21 Big South All-Conference selections in five seasons, including a program-record seven honorees in 2018.
