Liberty backed up a two-hit shutout by junior Chase Cassady with a 10-run outburst, downing Hampton, 10-0, in five innings during Thursday's first game of a twin bill at HU Softball Stadium.  

The Lady Flames (38-12) run their winning streak to eight games, while Hampton falls to 19-21 heading into today's second game, which starts at 5 p.m. Beginning with yesterday's 8-0 win over North Carolina, Liberty has outscored opponents, 18-0, this week.

Cassady (8-2) tossed a two-hit shutout, her third shutout of the season and seventh for her career. She struck out two batters.

Hampton's Allyson Babinsack (10-11) drew the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking one in three innings pitched. Emiy Sevilla gave up four runs, two earned, on seven hits in two innings of work.

Six Lady Flames had multiple hits, led by Taylor Hoffman's 3-for-3 game. Amber Bishop went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, one RBI and one run scored. Alexia Taylor batted 2-for-2 with four RBI. Madison Via scored three times with two steals, going 2-for-2. Jaclyn Amader went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, while Jasmeen Click went 2-for-3 with two RBI.  

The Lady Pirates' Alana VanDenburg singled to right with two outs in the bottom of the first. Kial Watts then reached on a throwing error, with the overthrow allowing the runners to advance to second and third. Liberty left fielder Hoffman made a diving catch in foul territory for the third out.

Sarah Robertson doubled to right center as the leadoff batter in the second. With one out, Babinsack hit Via, and Hoffman's infield single loaded the bases. Taylor lined a two-run single into left, and both runners went up a base on the throw home. Click reached on an error, with Via scoring on the play. Taylor was erased at the plate on a double steal play, and Click scored Liberty's fourth run of the inning when an error allowed Autumn Bishop to reach first.

Amader bunted for a base hit to lead off the third before stealing second. A groundout sent Amader to third base. Via bounced an infield single back to the pitcher, plating Amader for a 5-0 Liberty lead. Hoffman's infield single put runners on the corners. Taylor drew a walk, loading the bases. Click hit an RBI bunt single, extending the lead to six before Autumn Bishop's groundout ended the rally.

Hill led off the bottom of the third with an infield single before stealing second. A pair of groundouts kept the Cassady shutout intact through three innings.

Sevilla came on in relief of Babinsack to start the fourth inning. Amber Bishop doubled and Amader singled, putting runners on the corners with nobody out. Sevilla got out of the jam via a popout and double play.

Via and Hoffman opened the fifth with back-to-back singles, and a double steal pushed the runners to second and third. Taylor lined a two-run single up the middle, making it 8-0. Click then bunted for a single before stealing second. Pinch runner Cassie Gingerich scored from third on a double play. Amber Bishop launched a solo shot to left, pushing the lead to 10-0.  

Cassady set down the final eight Hampton batters she faced in order, finishing off the two-hit shutout.
