Liberty will be the No. 1 seed at this weekend's 2018 Big South Men's Golf Championship, where the Flames will look for their fifth title in the last eight years.

The Big South Men's Golf Championship begins with a practice round on Thursday. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played Friday through Sunday and is free and open to the public.

For the 11th year in a row, the event will be contested at The Patriot Golf Club (par 72, 7,120 yards) in Ninety Six, S.C., the site of Liberty's conference titles in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016.

The Flames earned the No. 1 seed based upon their No. 41 national ranking in the latest Golfstat rankings. Liberty's national rankings have steadily improved throughout the spring, bolstered four top-three finishes since February including a first-place finish at the Duck Invitational, March 26-27.

Campbell, last year's Champion, is ranked No. 55 in the nation by GolfStat and receives the No. 2 seed, ahead of No. 3 seed Gardner-Webb, which is ranked No. 152 in the country.

Host Radford is the No. 4 seed with its ranking of 159, while High Point earns the No. 5 seed with its national ranking of 196.  Longwood is No. 215 nationally and will be the No. 6 seed in the championship, with Winthrop (219) receiving the No. 7 seed.

Charleston Southern is the No. 8 seed based on its ranking of 232, and Presbyterian College rounds out the championship field as the No. 9 seed (251).

The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Men's Golf Championship for the 13th time in 14 years. The course has hosted the event every year since 2008, in addition to 2005 and 2006.

The 2018 champion will receive the Big South's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.  The conference championship schedule is as follows:
