Hashiguchi is now a two-time Big South Freshman of the Week.
Grace Hashiguchi of Liberty women's tennis has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.
Hashiguchi received the same distinction two weeks ago (March 28). The freshman posted a 3-0 record in her matches last week in home victories over Gardner-Webb and Hampton.
On Friday vs. the Runnin' Bulldogs at the Cook Tennis Center, Hashiguchi and her doubles partner Rebekah Anderson defeated Daniela Naupari and Paula Romero, 6-2, in the No. 3 position, which helped Liberty win the doubles point in an eventual 6-1 victory.
Against Hampton on Sunday morning at Crosswhite Athletic Club, she teamed up with fellow freshman Nasha Ghajar for a 6-1 triumph over Haley Mullins and Ana Romanova at No. 3 doubles, giving Liberty the doubles sweep. Hashiguchi also played singles, winning in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) over the Lady Pirates' Julia D'auvergne in the No. 6 match. The win provided Liberty its eighth 7-0 decision of the spring, the most of any team in the Big South.
With a 12-2 spring doubles record, Hashiguchi and her partner Anderson have the second-best winning percentage (.857) among Big South doubles pairings. Hashiguchi is 4-1 in spring singles play, including three straight wins.
Hashiguchi and the Lady Flames (15-8) are back in action tomorrow at Marshall (3-17) at noon, wrapping up Liberty's 2018 regular-season schedule.
