• Liberty and George Mason will meet for the first time since 2010 on Tuesday.
•  The two teams were supposed to meet this past Wednesday at Liberty Baseball Stadium, but the games was canceled due to inclement weather.
• Liberty took its Big South opening series at Gardner-Webb, two games to one, this past weekend.
• Liberty was picked to finish second in the 2018 Big South Preseason Poll by the league's head coaches. In addition, Liberty
outfielder D.J. Artis was tabbed the 2018 Big South Preseason Player of the Year.
• The Flames are in their second season under Head Coach Scott Jackson. He has led Liberty to a 43-31 record during his two seasons.

Todd, Clinton Among National Leaders
Outfielder Tre Todd and pitcher Zach Clinton find themselves among the top five nationally in several categories this week.

Todd enters the week fifth in the country with a .568 on base percentage. The junior leads the nation with 26 walks. In addition, the Deptford, N.J. native also leads Liberty in batting average (.392), RBI (25), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.672).

Clinton is currently ninth in the country with four wins. The redshirt junior has posted a 4-2 mark with a 3.80 ERA which leads the Flames over 23 2/3 innings.

Designated hitter Andrew Yacyk enters the week with 98 career RBI, two shy of 100. The redshirt senior has averaged 30 RBI over his previous three seasons in a Liberty uniform and has six RBI in 2018.

The Hagerstown, Md. native is also four doubles away from breaking into the program's top 10 career doubles list. Yacyk, who has a career .283 batting average, has 43 career doubles.  Former teammate Alex Close (2012-15) and Tyler Bream (2009-11) are currently tied for 10th on the list with 47.

Around the Diamond

  • Matt Allen received  the start behind the plate on Sunday at Gardner-Webb and provided a key hit in the win.  With the bases loaded and two out in the eighth, the catcher lined a triple off the wall to clear the bases in Liberty's 11-10 victory.
  • 1B Dylan Allen enters the week second on the Flames n both RBI (18) and runs scored (19).
  • 3B Tyler Galazin hit a two-run home run, his second home run of the season in Liberty's 11-10 victory over Gardner-Webb on Sunday. On Saturday, Galazin posted his first four-hit game of the year.
  • SS Cam Locklear hit his first home run of the season in the Flames' 11-10 win over Gardner-Webb on Sunday. Locklear had his hitting streak snapped at 10 games on Saturday. It is the longest hit streak by a Flame this season.
  • DH Andrew Yacyk has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine games. He has hit .387 over the span.
  • P Mason Hand earned his second save of the season, retiring the side in order in the ninth to close out an 11-10 win over Gardner-Webb on Sunday.
