Liberty-Robert Morris Game Notes

Following three games away from Lynchburg to start the season, Liberty women's lacrosse will play its home opener on Sunday versus Robert Morris.  

Sunday's contest is slated for a noon start at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. The Lady Flames hold a 2-1 record entering the game, picking up a 15-4 win earlier in the week (Wednesday) at East Carolina. The Colonials are also 2-1. They defeated Radford, 15-11, on Friday.

Series History
The two programs will be meeting for the fourth time ever. Robert Morris holds a 3-0 series edge. The Colonials defeated the Lady Flames, 13-10, in the most recent meeting, March 13, 2017. Brianna McCaffrey paced Liberty in that contest in Moon Township, Pa., with four goals.

Lady Flames News and Notes

  • The Lady Flames' Jenna Joyal leads the squad with seven goals through three games. The sophomore poured in a career-high four markers in Wednesday's victory at ECU. She scored nine goals as a freshman, last season.
  • Liberty assisted on an impressive 12 of its 15 goals at ECU. The Lady Flames currently lead the Big South with 7.00 assists per game and rank 19th in the nation in that category.
  • Kayla Foster and Michaela Rich both place 31st in DI women's lacrosse in assists with five each. Rich is also No. 49 in the country in points (10).
  • The Liberty defense averages 11.33 caused turnovers per contest, good for the 17th-best mark in the country.
  • Freshmen Mia Toscano and Anna Keebler both scored their first career goals against East Carolina.
  • Junior Kayla Foster checks in at No. 39 in the nation in draw controls per game (5.50). The Pennsylvania native tied a career high with eight in the season opener at Mercer, Feb. 10.
  • Liberty is 1-1 all-time on Feb. 25. The Lady Flames defeated George Washington on the date in 2015 and lost to Navy in 2017.

Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials are led in scoring by Meghan Crouse with seven goals. Crouse also leads the team with 14 draw controls. Kelley Flynn is second on the squad with five goals. Robert Morris scores 9.67 goals per game while surrendering 8.33 goals per game. They've dominated the draw circle, 40-24, over the first three games.

Seventh-year head coach Katrina Silva will likely go with Katelyn Miller (2-1, 6.77 GAA, 9 SV) in goal.
