Chang Repeats as Big South Men's Golfer of the Week

A pair of top-10 finishes this spring have led to Liberty's Ervin Chang being named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week for the second week in a row.

The sophomore finished the SunTrust Gator Invitational tied for eighth place, last weekend. He posted a 4-under par 206 (70-68-68) on Florida's home golf course, the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards).

Chang was also named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 9 after claiming medalist honors at the Sea Best Invitational to open the spring season.

In total, Chang has been selected the Big South's Men's Golfer of the Week three times during the 2017-18 season. He received the same honor during the fall on Sept. 28 following an eighth-place finish at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.

Chang's top-10 performance at the SunTrust Gator Invitational helped the Flames finished the event tied for sixth place. The sixth-place finish tied Liberty's best showing at this event in the last seven years.

The native of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, led the 90-man field in par-5 scoring, playing the par-5 holes at 7-under par. He also tied for team-high honors with 11 birdies, while adding an eagle.

Chang has finished as Liberty's top golfer in four out of seven events on Liberty's 2017-18 schedule. The sophomore currently leads the Flames with a 71.71 season stroke average and has played 14 out of 21 rounds at par or better this season.

Chang and the rest of the Flames will return to the golf course in March when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the General Hackler Championship. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Coastal Carolina at the Dunes Golf Club on March 10-11.
