Before the Flames started their first full week of spring football practice, rising junior quarterback Stephen Calvert met with the media earlier this week to discuss the team's workouts.
During his sophomore season, Calvert set program records for passing yards (3,363), passing attempts (438), passing touchdowns (29) and tying the program record in completions (257) in 2017. Calvert was one of 12 Liberty players to earn All-Big South honors, as he was named to the second-team all-conference squad during Liberty's final season at the FCS level.
The Flames held their first of 15 spring practice workouts, last Saturday, kicking off a five-week stretch where Liberty will practice three times a week in preparation for the 2018 season.
As previously announced, the Flames will not hold an annual spring football game due to the expansion construction taking place at Williams Stadium.
During its spring practice workouts, the Flames practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:45 to 7:45 p.m.) and Saturday mornings/afternoons. All of Liberty's spring practice workouts are closed to the general public and media.
During its five-week spring practice workouts, LibertyFlames.com will continue to provide insight from the Flames' players and coaches as the team prepares for its first season of FBS competition. Be sure to check back each week for more coverage of Flames football.
