Sea Best Invitational - Live Stats

Liberty will kick off the spring portion of its 2017-18 men's golf schedule, next Monday, when the Flames return to the Sea Best Invitational.

The event will feature 36 holes of play on Monday, followed by a final 18 holes of competition on Tuesday. The Flames have participated in this event seven out of the last eight years, posting six top-five finishes.

Liberty has posted the same 9-over par 849 team score each of its last two times at this event. The Flames finished in second place out of 15 teams in 2016 (281-288-280) and placed third out of 15 teams in 2017 (283-286-280).

Gabe Lench and Isaiah Logue both opened their spring schedules with top-10 individual finishes, last year. Lench finished in fourth place with a 3-under par 207 (65-72-70), his third career top-five finish. Logue finished one stroke behind him with a 2-under par 208 (71-67-70) to share fifth place.

The field will once again be tested by Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The event has been contested on this course for the last three years, making the switch from the famed TPC Sawgrass – Stadium Course in 2015.

This year, the course will play at a par 70 (6,873 yards), after playing at a par 71 (6,977 yards) the previous two years.

This year's 15-team field features 13 teams who finished the fall golf season ranked inside the top 100 teams in the country, as ranked by Liberty is part of that 13-team grouping, wrapping up the fall season ranked No. 70.

No. 7 Florida leads the "baker's dozen" group of nationally-ranked teams, followed by LSU (No. 11), Arkansas (No. 20), Duke (No. 23), North Carolina (No. 24), North Florida (No. 27), Tennessee (No. 28), South Florida (No. 50), Lipscomb (No. 58), Campbell (No. 61), Liberty (No. 70), East Carolina (No. 79) and Jacksonville (No. 80).

The seventh-ranked Gators enter the 2018 event as the defending champions, finishing last year atop the 15-team field leaderboard with a 4-under par 836 (277-275-284).

The event will also give the Flames a chance to see two of their current Big South foes in Campbell and Winthrop, plus future Big South opponent USC Upstate. Last November, the Big South announced USC Upstate and Hampton would be joining the conference for the 2018-19 academic year.

First round action gets underway on Monday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start, while Tuesday's final round starts at 8 a.m. off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.
