Liberty Raises Over 15 Thousand Dollars at Paradise Jam

An exciting three days of college basketball wrapped up Sunday night at the Vines Center. Liberty University and the Paradise Jam raised 15,154 dollars throughout the three-day tournament that will be donated to the hurricane relief efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition to the 15,154 dollars raised, 529 items were also donated that will go back to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Hoisting the 2017 Paradise Jam championship was Colorado with a 79-70 victory over Mercer. Colorado's McKinley Wright IV was named MVP of the tournament but the start of the championship game was George King as he scored a game-high 25 points to go along with eight rebounds.

In the third place matchup, Drake and Drexel found themselves in the only game that would go into overtime throughout the entire tournament. With the game going into double overtime, Drake would pull out the 90-88 victory.

To start the day off, Liberty got its first win of the tournament with a victory over Quinnipiac 84-72. To close out the morning session, Houston defeated Wake Forest in a thrilling 78-73 game.
