Liberty Garners No. 4 Seed for Big South Men's Soccer Championship

The Liberty Flames will be the No. 4 seed for the 2017 Big South Men's Soccer Championship. The conference announced the seedings and pairings with the close of the conference's regular season earlier this evening.

The top six teams in the conference's regular season standings qualify for the tournament, with the higher seeds hosting each round.

Liberty will host the No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs for a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday at Osborne Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Flames, who fell in 4-2 in to the Radford Highlanders this evening, finished their regular season with a 5-3 mark in Big South play and compiled 15 points to place in fourth in the Big South standings.

Liberty will enter its quarterfinal match-up with a 10-5-1 overall mark. Gardner-Webb an completed Big South action with 4-3-1 mark and 13 points to place fifth in the regular season standings. The Flames defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs, 1-0 in overtime, in their regular season match-up at Osborne Stadium on Sept. 26.

The winner of the match advances to play No. 1 seed and regular season champion High Point next Wednesday in High Point, N.C. High Point claimed the No. 1 seed for the Big South Championship and a first round bye with a 7-1 mark in conference play and 21 points.

Campbell finished with a 5-2-1 Big South record and 16 points to grab the No. 3 seed. The Camels will host the No. 6 seed Presbyterian (3-3-2, 11 points) in Sunday's other quarterfinal match. The winner plays No. 2 seed Radford next Wednesday. The Highlanders received a first round bye by virtue of finishing second in the Big South standings with a 5-1-2 conference mark and 17 points.

Next Wednesday's winners will advance to the Big South title contest on Nov. 12 at the home site of the higher seed. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The quarterfinals and semifinals will air on the Big South Network, with the final airing on ESPN3. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. The conference championship schedule is as follows:

Quarterfinals, Sunday, Nov. 5 (at Higher Seed)
Match 1: #5 Gardner-Webb at #4 Liberty, 2 p.m.
Match 2: #6 Presbyterian at #3 Campbell, 7 p.m.

Semifinals, Wenesday, Nov. 8 (at Higher Seed)
Match 3: Winner Match 1 at #1 High Point, 7 p.m.
Match 4: Winner Match 2 at #2 Radford, 7 p.m.

Finals, Sunday, Nov. 12 (at High Seed)
Match 5: Winner Match 3 vs. Winner Match 4, 2 p.m.
