Liberty women's soccer has claimed a share of the Big South title and will now go into the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the 2017 Big South Championship. To kick off the tournament, the Lady Flames will host the No. 7 seed, Gardner-Webb on Friday, Oct. 27, at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be streamed on the Big South Network, as the two schools will face off at Osborne Stadium for the second time this season. Liberty and the Runnin' Bulldogs faced off in the Big South opener this season in a tight battle where Liberty pulled out the 1-0 victory. Liberty's win over the Runnin' Bulldogs was one of five 1-0 victories for the Lady Flames in conference. 

The Lady Flames enter the tournament playing exceptional defense since Big South play has rolled around as they allowed two teams to score on them all season. Liberty ended the season with a 0.90 goals against average, which ranked No. 79 in the country. During Big South play, Liberty posted a 0.42 goals against average, ranking first in the conference.

  • Liberty is 6-3-4 all-time against Gardner-Webb. The Lady Flames defeated GWU 1-0 earlier this season at Osborne Stadium.

  • Liberty claimed its third Big South regular season title in the last four years (2014, 2015).

  • Liberty looks for its third straight NCAA College Cup appearance, which would be a first in Big South history.

  • Liberty allowed two teams to score in nine Big South games.

  • For the fifth straight season Liberty won at least seven Big South regular season games.
