Tougher playing conditions during Tuesday's final round saw Liberty slip down the leaderboard and finish in 10th place at the 2017 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.
The Flames entered the day in third place. However, the 13-team field experienced persistent Texas winds throughout the day, including Liberty's time during the challenging back nine at the Royal Oaks Country Club (par 71, 7,068 yards).
Liberty finished the event with a 10-over par 862 (282-278-302), closing the event with an 18-over par 302 during today's final round which featured wind gusts up to 30 MPH.
No. 7 Baylor, the tournament host, was able to weather the challenging final day to win its own tournament by 19 strokes. The Bears posted a winning score of 25-under par 827 (272-274-281), finishing ahead of No. 17 Arkansas' 6-under par 846 (283-276-287).
Baylor's Cooper Dossey was able to maintain his overnight clubhouse lead to claim medalist honors with an 11-under par 202 (66-67-69). New Mexico's Andre Garcia finished in second place with a 7-under par 206 (68-70-68).
Liberty's Isaiah Logue paced the way for the Flames, finishing in 26th place with a 2-over par 215 (71-68-76). The senior tied for the team lead with 36 pars during the 54-hole event.
The Flames' Mickey DeMorat (72-70-76), Ervin Chang (69-68-81) and Payton Taylor (70-72-76) shared 39th place with a 5-over par 218. Chang and DeMorat finished the event with a team-best 11 birdies each.
Alexandre Fuchs was the lone Flame to move up on the 73-man leaderboard during the final round, finishing the event in 46th place with a 7-over par 220 (74-72-74). The freshman carded two of his six birdies during the two-day tournament as the Flames played in the difficult afternoon playing conditions.
The Flames will close out the fall portion of their 2017-18 schedule this weekend when they participate in the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by South Alabama, Saturday and Sunday, at the Steelwood Country Club in Loxley, Ala.
