Men's Soccer to Face UNC Asheville, Saturday




The Liberty Flames travel to Asheville, N.C., for a match with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, Saturday. Match time for the Big South Conference contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Greenwood Field.

Liberty moved its record to 2-1 in Big South play and 6-3-1 overall with a 2-1 win over Longwood, Tuesday. Rigo Rojas' first goal of the season during the 73rd minute proved to be the difference in the Flames' victory. Kevin Mendoza also scored for the Flames in the victory, upping his season's total to five.


  • Liberty has outscored its opponents, 21-9, on the year. The Flames currently rank 15th in total goals and 16th nationally with a 2.10 goals per game average.
  • With their victory on Tuesday, Liberty moved to 5-1 at home. Meanwhile, the Flames are 1-2 on the road in 2017.

  • With six points in his last for games, Kevin Mendoza has moved among the conference leaders in points and goals. The midfielder enters the weekend seventh in the Big South with 13 points and eighth in goals with five.
