Liberty University women's soccer player Suzanne Edwards has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America District III third team for her excellence in the classroom and on the soccer field.

Edwards, a senior, has played in 15 contests this season, with 13 starts. After switching from defender to forward midway through the year, the Waxhaw, N.C., native has tallied four assists to lead the Lady Flames in the category. Last season, Edwards was selected to the Big South All-Conference first team and the VaSID All-State first team.

Off the field, the Lady Flame captain has also excelled in the classroom, currently maintaining a 3.79 GPA in English. She has been a Dean's List member each of her six semesters at Liberty, earning a 4.0 GPA in her first two semesters. In addition, the forward/defender also has earned academic recognition by being named to the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll the past three academic years.

Edwards and the Lady Flames host South Dakota State in their final regular-season contest of the 2007 season, tonight at Liberty Soccer Field. Before the game, Edwards and four other senior members of the Liberty roster, who will be playing in their final home game, will be honored. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
