Saturday's Top Storylines 1. Off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2010, No. 19/NR Liberty will welcome 0-2 Indiana State to Williams Stadium on Saturday. The Flames are seeking their first 3-0 start since 2008, when Liberty went on to win a program-record 10 games. 2. Liberty will look for its first-ever win over Indiana State, as the Flames are 0-2 against the Sycamores all-time. Liberty is also shooting for its first-ever win over a Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) foe at Williams Stadium. 3. The Flames have featured a high-powered, fast-paced offense through the season's first two games. Liberty is averaging 53.0 ppg, while racking up an average of 554 yards on 89 offensive plays per outing. 4. Liberty QB Stephen "Buckshot" Calvert is off to a scorching start to his sophomore season. He is completing 70.4 percent of his passes and averaging 364 passing yards per game while throwing eight TD passes and zero interceptions. 5. WR B.J. Farrow racked up career highs for receiving yards (177) and TDs (3) in his season debut versus Morehead State, one week after Antonio Gandy-Golden went for 192 receiving yards and two scores at Baylor. 6. Sophomore K Alex Probert is a two-time Big South Special Teams Player of the Week already this season. He has made 11 straight field goal attempts, dating back to 2016.
A Liberty Win Would ... • Enable the Flames to open the season at 3-0 for the first time since the 2008 squad began the year at 6-0. • Mark the Flames' seventh 3-0 start to a season in program history. Liberty previously won its first three games in 1975, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1997 and 2008. • Give the Flames their first-ever victory over Indiana State. • Mark the Flames' first-ever triumph over a Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) at Williams Stadium. • Represent the Flames' first win over a MVFC foe since a 31-28 victory at Youngstown State on Sept. 27, 2008. • Make the Flames 4-12 all-time against MVFC opponents (at the time of the meeting). • Send Indiana State to defeat for the sixth straight outing and the ninth time in its last 10 contests, dating back to the 2016 season.
