The Flames kicked off their spring golf season with a pair of rounds at the CSU Spring Kick-Off Tournament Monday at the par 71, 6579-yard Coosaw Creek Country Club and currently stand in fourth place out of 12 teams. Campbell currently leads the event with an 11-over-par 579 (290-289), while Radford (301-280) and Jacksonville (293-288) stand tied for second with a 13-over-par 581. The Flames carded rounds of 299 and 295 and stand in fourth place with a 26-over-par 594, one stroke ahead of host Charleston Southern's 27-over-par 595 (301-294). Jacksonville's Duncan Stewart leads the field of 70 players with a two-under-par 140 (74-66), thanks in part to the first day's best round with a five-under-par 66 to close out competition on the afternoon. Radford's Aaron Summers (71-70) and Campbell's Fredric Sundberg (69-72) are tied for second place with a one-under-par 141, while Liberty's Parker McKoy (73-70) shares fourth place with Jacksonville's Russel Knox (72-71) and Campbell's Matt McIntyre (75-68) as the trio finished the first day at one-over-par 143. Joining McKoy for the Flames are Peter Horstman (78-71) and Jay Calvo (72-77), who are both tied for 18th place with a seven-over-par 149, Albie Powers, who is tied for 31st place with an 11-over-par 153 (76-77) and Andrew Turner, who is tied for 60th place with a 19-over-par 161 (80-81). The Flames will conclude their opening tournament of the spring tomorrow with a final 18 holes of competition at the Coosaw Creek Country Club.
