Liberty WBB Announces 2017-18 Non-Conference Slate

2017-18 Liberty Women's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

The Liberty women's basketball team announced its 2017-18 non-conference schedule today, headlined by a trio of tournaments and visits to James Madison (Dec. 6) and Duke (Dec. 29).

Home Sweet Home
The Lady Flames will play at least three non-conference home games, including matchups with Limestone (Nov. 28), Valparaiso (Dec. 2) and Shippensburg (Dec. 16). The Valparaiso and Shippensburg tilts are part of doubleheaders with the Liberty men's basketball team.

Liberty could also host Preseason WNIT games between Nov. 12-19, depending on how the Lady Flames progress through the bracket.

Tournament Time
As previously announced, Liberty will tip off its fifth Preseason WNIT appearance and its 2017-18 season at Old Dominion on Nov. 10. The victor will move on to face the winner of that day's Michigan-George Mason contest, while the loser will play a pair of consolation games.

Massachusetts native Molly Reagan will get to celebrate Thanksgiving at home, as the Lady Flames are entered in the UMass Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 24-25. Liberty is set to square off against Houston on the opening day and will face the host Minutewomen to close out the event.

Liberty will also travel to Kansas City for the UMKC Roo Holiday Classic, where the Lady Flames will meet Denver (Dec. 19) and Northern Colorado (Dec. 20).

Challenging Slate
The Lady Flames will square off against five 20-win teams from last season, including Duke (28-6), James Madison (26-9), Northern Colorado (22-8), Limestone (27-5) and Shippensburg (24-7).

Duke advanced to the second round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, while James Madison reached the third round of the 2017 Postseason WNIT.

Something New
Liberty is scheduled to face four first-time opponents in 2017-18, including Limestone, Shippensburg, Denver and Northern Colorado.

The Lady Flames will meet their first-ever foes from the American Athletic Conference (Houston) and Big Sky Conference (Northern Colorado).

Meanwhile, the UMKC Roo Holiday Classic will mark Liberty's first-ever contests played in Missouri.

Big South Beat
Liberty's 18-game Big South Conference schedule will be announced at a later date. What is known is that the Lady Flames will play host to the Big South Women's Basketball Championship for the second consecutive season, March 8-11 at the Vines Center.
