One hundred days before Liberty tips off its 2017-18 women's basketball season, freshman point guard Ashtyn Baker took some time to chat with Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network.
Baker joins the Lady Flames after being named Tennessee Miss Basketball as a senior at Northpoint Christian School. A native of Nesbit, Miss., Baker led her team to back-to-back Tennessee II-A state titles. During her five-year high school career, Baker helped Northpoint go 139-23, totaling 1,963 points, 810 assists, 676 rebounds and 753 steals.
Baker is one of four new Lady Flames who will join the team in 2017-18, along with fellow freshmen Apilyn Bonny and Bridgette Rettstatt and junior Melis Ucar. Additionally, sophomore transfers Ria Gulley (Indiana) and Emily Lytle (Little Rock) will each sit out the season before becoming eligible to play in 2018-19.
