LFSN was on site to following McGinty throughout the day-long event, providing today's behind the scenes video recap. McGinty, along with offensive lineman Michael Henderman, helped kick off the 16th season of Big South football earlier this week with the conference's annual media day festivities held at the Charlotte Marriott City Center hotel in Uptown Charlotte.

McGinty completed his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in May and will begin graduate work next fall while leading Liberty's defense on the football field. He plans to pursue a master's degree in human services counseling - executive leadership.

McGinty made an immediate impact for the Flames during the 2016 season after transferring from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. He started all 11 games at the SPUR safety position, finishing the season ranked fourth on the team with 52 tackles (31 solo, 21 assisted).

He also tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles and was third on the squad with two interceptions. The native of Navasota, Texas, will be at the center of Liberty's defensive unit in 2017, moving from safety to linebacker for his final year at Liberty.
