Avery Warley will provide some needed depth at the post position for the Lady Flames.

Unlike a season ago, when the entire Liberty women's basketball team remained unchanged from the previous campaign, four new faces dot the 2007-08 Lady Flames' roster. Throughout the preseason, will introduce each of the new additions to the squad, continuing today with freshman forward Avery Warley.

Scouting Report: Liberty lost post players Jamie Feagin and Karolina Piotrkiewicz to graduation after last season, and 2007-08 will be Egle Smigelskaite's final season in a Lady Flames uniform. Warley was recruited to help fill the resulting void under the basket, and possesses the athletic ability and basketball IQ to make an impact at both ends of the court. However, she sat out a year after high school and will be redshirted this season, to aid in her transition to the college game.

Credentials: Warley was a hardwood standout for H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C., the alma mater of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Byron Leftwich. Warley led the Warriors to a pair of D.C. Intercollegiate Athletic Association (DCIAA) championships, both as a freshman and as a senior. She posted a double-double in the DCIAA title game as a senior in 2006, capturing the MVP award. Warley averaged a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) during her junior campaign.

Coach Green on Warley: "Avery brings tremendous athletic ability, agility and a good understanding of the game. She has improved daily throughout the preseason and we look forward to major contributions from her in the future. Avery is an outstanding defender and has great scoring ability inside. She has the ability to change the outcome of a game. I am excited to see how quickly she develops and matures in the rigors of college life."

All About Avery:
If I were on "American Idol," I would sing … Keyshia Cole's "Love."

If I could switch places with one person for a day, it would be … Michael Jordan (in his prime.)

It is not good for you, but I still eat … cookie dough and chocolate chip ice cream.

I spend too much time … watching TV.

When I want to get away from basketball for a little while, I … relax with family and friends.

Other than Liberty, the team I root for the most is … the Dallas Cowboys.

The best movie I saw over the summer was … The Notebook.

If my room were on fire, I would be sure to grab … my Jordan sneakers, my phone, my Bible and my favorite shirt.

What advice would you give to young children? Work hard and enjoy life.

What will it take to reclaim the Big South title? Teamwork and hard work.

The most important thing I have learned at Liberty is … to put God first in everything you do.
