Julia DiMartino and Amber Bishop were honored by the Big South on Monday.
Following another successful week, Liberty sophomore pitcher Julia DiMartino and freshman infielder Amber Bishop were honored by the Big South. DiMartino was named Big South Co-Pitcher of the Week, sharing the honor with Radford's Abby Morrow. Bishop was tabbed Big South Freshman of the Week. DiMartino received her fourth career Big South Pitcher of the Week award, earning the honor for the second week in a row. Elizabeth Engler (Feb. 13) and Kenzie Friesen (April 3) both earned the honor earlier this year.
Bishop earned her third career Big South Freshman of the Week award, also receiving the honor on March 20 and April 3. She was also named Big South Player of the Week on Feb. 13. Bishop, her twin sister Autumn (twice) and Taylor Hoffman have all earned Freshman of the Week awards this year.
Between Big South Player of the Week, Freshman of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, Liberty has had eight different players honored with a weekly award by the conference this year.

She opened the week by tossing a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over ACC opponent Virginia Tech on Tuesday. DiMartino struck out seven Hokies in the game, pitching her fifth straight complete-game shutout. After sustaining a pair of one-run losses, she bounced back to pitch a five-hit shutout during game one of a doubleheader, Saturday at Winthrop. She then came in for a relief win in game two on Saturday, pitching the final 5 1/3 innings of scoreless softball.
Amber Bishop, fresh off being named a Top 25 Finalist for NFCA National Freshman of the Year, batted .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, one homer, six RBI, three runs scored, an .800 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage.
Bishop went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in Liberty's 6-0 win over Virginia Tech on Tuesday. She hit a three-run double in the fifth to spark a six-run rally. During game one of the Winthrop series, she batted 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. She recorded her seventh three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Liberty's 4-3, comeback win over Winthrop on Saturday.
She has broken Liberty's program freshman records for home runs (10) and RBI (50). Bishop currently leads the Big South with 63 hits, tying for first with 50 RBI.
