Prior to departing for this weekend's Mason Rudolph Championship, junior golfer Mickey DeMorat recently had a chance to visit with LFSN reporter Alan York.
The Flames are coming off a near four-week layoff from competition, having last been on the course at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on March 6-7. Prior to that event, Liberty had played four events over a five-week span in February and early March.
For DeMorat, the layoff has been even longer, as the native of Merritt Island, Fla., suffered an injury in December and has been sidelined the last few months.
DeMorat is poised to return to competition this weekend following the most successful fall in program history. The junior posted a 71.00 stroke average during the fall to individually set a new program record. He played 10 of his 14 rounds at par or better and posted three top 10 finishes in five events.
