Liberty Falls to No. 2/3 Auburn, 15-0

The No. 2/3 Auburn Tigers used a pair of big innings to down the visiting Liberty Lady Flames, 15-0, Thursday at Jane B. Moore Field.

Auburn improves to 15-2 on the season, while Liberty's record stands at 9-6. The two teams will square off again tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET as part of the Wilson/DeMarini Classic.

Carlee Wallace hit 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI, while Kasey Cooper and Haley Fagan both recorded two hits and a home run for Auburn.

Liberty's Autumn Bishop, Jasmeen Click and Emily Sweat had one hit apiece for the Lady Flames.

Kaylee Carlson (9-0) earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out two over three innings. Ashlee Swindle and Jenna Abbott both pitched an inning of relief.

Julia DiMartino (2-2) drew the loss, giving up three runs on three hits as the starting pitcher. Relievers Chase Cassady (2/3 IP), Kenzie Friesen (2/3 IP) and Elizabeth Engler (2 2/3 IP) all followed in relief.

Auburn jumped out to a 7-0 lead by scoring seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the third. Wallace led off with a homer, and Fagan hit a two-run blast for a 3-0 advantage. Cassady came on in relief of DiMartino, giving up four runs on one hit, walking five and striking out two. Friesen entered to get the final out of the inning.

The Tigers added eight runs to their ledger during the second inning. Kendall Veach led off with a homer. A three-run double by Wallace followed by a two-run home run from Cooper made it 14-0. Engler came on the get the final two outs, but not before Auburn added one more run.

Click broke up Carlson's no-hit bid with a two-out single in the top of the third inning. Sarah Robertson then popped out for the third out.

Autumn Bishop lined a sharp single to center to lead off the fourth, but was quickly erased on a 5-4-3 double play. Sweat followed with an infield single before Tori Zavodny grounded out.

Engler kept Auburn off the board in both the third and fourth innings, allowing just one hit during that stretch.

Abbott pitched a 1-2-3 Liberty fifth, ending the game.

Liberty will compete in two games tomorrow during the Wilson/DeMarini Classic. The Lady Flames will meet Texas State at 4 p.m. ET before taking on the host Auburn Tigers at 7 p.m. ET
