• Liberty will enter Tuesday's game with a 4-3 mark on the season. The Flames have lost two straight, after winning four in a row.
• Liberty started its 2017 midweek slate with a 5-4 win over Kentucky at Liberty Baseball Stadium, this past Wednesday.
• The Flames are 1-0 on the road after defeating The Citadel, 9-1, at the Charleston Crab House Challenge on Feb. 19.
• Liberty and Elon have faced each other 27 times on the baseball diamond. The Flames hold a 16-11 edge in the all-time series. 
Last season, Elon defeated Liberty, 10-5, at Latham Park in an early season meeting on March 8. The Phoenix were a member of the Big South Conference from 1999-2003.
• For the second consecutive week, Liberty first baseman Sammy Taormina has been named the Big South Player of the Week. After winning the award for games played Feb. 17-19, he was selected for the same honor for games played Feb. 20-26. 
Taormina has hit .577 to start 2017.
• The 2017 season will is the first under head coach Scott Jackson.  Jackson, who was an assistant coach at Liberty in 2008, spent 
the past eight seasons as an assistant on head coach Mike Fox's staff at North Carolina.
Taormina Garners Back-to-Back Big South Baseball Player of the Week Honors
    For the second straight week, Liberty first baseman Sammy Taormina has been selected as the Big South Player of the Week. After receiving the honor for games played Feb. 17-19, he has been tabbed with the award for games played Feb. 20-26.    
    Taormina, a redshirt senior from Rock Hill, S.C., continued his hot hitting for the Flames, this past week. The first baseman hit .600 with a .667 on base percentage and a 1.067 slugging percentage, as Liberty posted a 2-2 mark during the week. He also belted his first two home runs of the season, both in an 8-5 win over UMBC on Friday, had five RBI and scored five times during the week.
    Taormina collected two or more hits in each of Liberty's contests last week, including three hits against Kansas State at Lexington County vs. Cancer on Saturday. The redshirt senior has multiple hit games in six of the Flames' seven games, this season.
    The first baseman has started the year with a .577 batting average and .656 on base percentage. He leads the Big South Conference in both categories. In addition, his 15 hits and 1.038 slugging percentage paces the conference.
