Flames in 7th Place After Day 1 of Sea Best Invite

No. 32 Liberty stands in seventh place following the first two rounds of the 2017 Sea Best Invitational contested on Monday.

After two times around the TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course (par 70, 6,873 yards), the Flames have carded a 9-over par 569 (283-286). Liberty was able to stay in the top half of the 15-team field thanks to carding 32 birdies, the second-highest total of any team on the day.

Defending tournament champion Florida holds a one-stroke lead heading into tomorrow's final round. No. 2 Florida posted an 8-under par 552 (277-275) and is one stroke ahead of No. 13 North Carolina, who carded a 7-under par 553 (280-273). Lipscomb is currently in third place following an even par score of 560 (278-282).

The Gators have the top three individual players in the 83-man field led by Ryan Orr's 7-under par 133 (67-66). His fellow teammates Alejandro Tosti and Gordon Neale fired matching rounds of 68 and currently are tied for second place with a 4-under par 136.

The Flames have two of the 11 players who enter tomorrow's final round in red figures in Gabe Lench (fourth place, 3-under par) and Isaiah Logue (seventh place, 2-under par).

Lench (65-72) held the clubhouse lead following an opening round 5-under par 65, but dropped three spots down the leaderboard during the afternoon flight. The sophomore had 10 birdies on the day, helping him open with his lowest round of the season.

Logue (71-67) finished tied for third place on the day by playing the par-4 holes at a stroke average of 3.96. He also carded seven birdies and had a clean card of three birdies and 15 pars during the afternoon round.

Kieran Vincent is currently tied for 43rd place with an 8-over par 148 following matching rounds of 74. The rookie only had 17 pars on the day, while carding seven birdies.

Payton Taylor showed improvement during the afternoon rounds, shaving three strokes off his score to share 55th place with a 9-over par 149 (76-73).

Liberty's final golfer in the field is Hutson Chandler, who is tied for 74th place with a 14-over par 154 (73-81).

The 15-team field will return to the TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. for the final round. The Flames will be paired with golfers from tournament host Jacksonville and Tennessee and will be sent off the No. 1 tee.
