With the 2017 softball season opener less than two weeks away, LFSN reporter Alan York was able to interview junior catcher Alexia Taylor.
Taylor, a native of Oviedo, Fla., has been an impact player for the Lady Flames ever since she joined the team as a freshman. The 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year, Taylor is the fourth Liberty softball player all-time to reach 100 career hits as a sophomore.
After starting at third base for a majority of the 2015 season, Taylor was Liberty's everyday starting catcher last year. During her first two years at Liberty, she has batted a combined .314 with 24 doubles, eight home runs and 58 RBI. She has also posted 35 multiple-hit games as a Lady Flame.
Taylor and the Lady Flames open the 2017 season at the Dot Richardson Invitational, held Feb. 10-12 at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
