Keyen Green is now a four-time Big South Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week this season.
For the third consecutive week and the fourth time this season, Liberty post player Keyen Green has been named the Come Ready Nutrition Big South Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Green is the first Lady Flame to win three straight Big South Freshman of the Week honors since Reagan Miller (Feb. 14, 21 & 28, 2012). Green's four Big South Freshman of the Week awards this season are the most by a Lady Flame since Miller totaled four honors in 2011-12.
Green paced the Lady Flames in both points (14.5 ppg) and rebounds (11.5 rpg), helping Liberty split its two games on the week. The Lady Flames are now tied with Campbell for second place in the Big South standings at 3-1, one game behind Radford.
Green totaled all 13 of her points and all seven of her rebounds before halftime of Tuesday's 68-60 home win over Presbyterian, helping give Liberty a lead it never relinquished.
Yesterday, Green recorded her sixth double-double of the season during an 84-82 overtime loss at Gardner-Webb, consisting of 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. She scored six points during the fourth quarter and overtime, including a game-tying layup with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.
For the season, Green leads the Big South in rebounds (9.2 rpg) and offensive rebounds (4.5 rpg). She also ranks second in field goal percentage (56.6), fourth in defensive rebounds (4.7 rpg), sixth in blocked shots (0.9 bpg) and tied for seventh in points (12.1 ppg).
Nationally, Green ranks second among freshmen in rebounding and 11th overall in offensive rebounding.
Green and the Lady Flames (4-11, 3-1 Big South) will host Longwood (3-12, 0-4 Big South) Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Vines Center for Liberty's lone home game of the week.
