The Game
The Liberty men's basketball team (1-2) will host regional play in the Indiana Classic, starting Monday night at 6 p.m. against UMass Lowell. On Tuesday, UMass Lowell and Mississippi Valley State will face off at 6 p.m. at the Vines Center. Liberty and Mississippi Valley State close out this week's game on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

UMass Lowell (1-3) enters Monday's game having already played a pair of contests in the Indiana Classic. The River Hawks dropped a 100-78 decision to No. 6/5 Indiana, last Wednesday, in Bloomington, Ind., before losing to Fort Wayne, 94-81, on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind. UMass Lowell is 0-3 in its road contests this season.

Matchup Notes
• Liberty and UMass Lowell will meet for the first time in men's basketball on Monday. The Flames are 4-6 all-time against members of the America East at time of meeting. 
• Liberty's last meeting with an America East opponent came in the 2004-05 season opener. The Flames lost, 59-58, to New Hampshire, Nov. 19, 2004 in the Vines Center.
• Liberty's last win over an America East team was Nov. 30, 2002, when the Flames defeated New Hampshire, 80-70, on the road.

Quick Notes
• Saturday's game at Indiana was Liberty's lone road game in its first five contests, as four out of the team's first five games will be played at the Vines Center.
• 2016 Big South Coach of the Year Ritchie McKay is in his fourth year as head coach at Liberty, and second since returning to Lynchburg. In his time at Liberty (2007-09, 2015-present), McKay has posted a 53-48 overall record.
• The Flames average 9.5 three-pointers made per game so far, connecting at a .388 clip from downtown. Liberty's top three season totals for three-point field goals made have all come under fourth-year Head Coach Ritchie McKay.
John Dawson, named to the Preseason Big South Men's Basketball All-Conference first team, leads the Flames with a 10.3 points per game average. Dawson has gone 6-for-12 on three-pointers in each of Liberty's first three games.

Notes and Anecdotes - UMass Lowell
• Liberty and UMass Lowell can both claim national championships in men's basketball. The Flames won the 1980 NCCAA national championship with a 68-65 win over Point Loma in the championship game, March 15, 1980. UMass Lowell claimed the 1988 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, 75-72, over Alaska Anchorage.
• Liberty is 4-6 all-time against America East programs at time of meeting. The Flames went 1-1 against Boston University, New Hampshire and Towson, 0-1 versus Drexel and 1-2 against Maine as America East teams.
