During Homecoming Weekend, the Liberty Academic Affairs for Athletics office hosted its Fourth Annual Spooktacular Kids Carnival. The free event was held at the Liberty Baseball Stadium and featured carnival games, crafts, and activities run by Liberty Flames student-athletes.

More than 750 people attended this year's Spooktacular, the largest gathering in the four years of the events. Attendees included Liberty alumni in town visiting for Homecoming Weekend, community members from local schools, mothers groups, and members of local churches.

Liberty's athletics teams came out in full force to serve at the Spooktacular, including baseball, softball, football, women's tennis, and men's tennis.

The goal of the event each year is to make partnerships and engages the Lynchburg community through the different activities at the Spooktacular.

"Our goal is to always utilize our student-athletes' platform to reach alumni and community members and to serve them. We truly embrace the concept of pay-it-forward and servanthood," said Liberty Senior Associate Athletics Director – Academic Affairs Kristie Beitz.

The Liberty baseball and softball teams spent a week prior to the event coordinating costumes and planning. Liberty Academic Affairs for Athletics office planned all of the games and activities, while also decorating for the Spooktacular.

"I think it's a wonderful way to show our alumni what our current student-athletes are doing for the community. It's great to see the student-athletes interact with the kids that come in, and it's a great way to give back to the community we're a part of," said Liberty NCAA Certifying Officer and APR Specialist Sara Norman.
