Meet Information Course Information Blacksburg Weather Six Liberty women's cross country runners will race at the low-key Hokie Open, Friday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va. The women's 4K is set for 5:10 p.m. at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course on Virginia Tech's campus.
Weather Report Friday afternoon should be pleasant for distance running in Blacksburg, with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 50s.
Who is Competing? Liberty's list of Hokie Open competitors includes Victoria Clinton, Gabriella Delbo, Alexis Hinman, Elizabeth Hutton, Jessie Proehl and Brooke Turner.
Checking Out the Course This is the 10th straight year that Liberty has competed in at least one event at the mostly flat Buford Meredith Cross Country Course. The Flames have already made one visit to Blacksburg this season, competing in the VT Alumni Invite on Sept. 16.
Four of Friday's entrants raced in the VT Alumni Invite 6K race, including Gabriella Delbo (48th place), Brooke Turner (50th), Jessie Proehl (62nd) and Victoria Clinton (82nd).
A Look Back at Last Year Last season, seven Lady Flames raced in the Hokie Open 4K on Nov. 6, 2015. Terrill Zentmeyer led the way with a fifth-place finish, clocking a time of 15:01.7. Alyssa Karle joined her in the top 10, placing ninth in 15:16.8.
We Are the Champions The Liberty women's cross country team captured its first Big South Conference title since 2012 at the Big South Cross Country Championships, Friday in Swannanoa, N.C.

Two Liberty runners who competed in the 2015 Hokie Open played key roles in the Lady Flames' conference title last Friday. Terrill Zentmeyer placed fifth in the Big South, with teammate Kammi Kurtz following in eighth.
Elizabeth's Entry Redshirt freshman Elizabeth Hutton is expected to make her Liberty debut on Friday. The native of Chesterfield, Va., won the 2014 Virginia 5A indoor state title in the mile but has battled injuries during most of her time with the Lady Flames thus far.
Reaching the Finish Line Friday's Hokie Open will most likely be the final race of the 2016 cross country season for each of Liberty's competitors there. The Flames and Lady Flames will be limited to seven entrants apiece at the 2016 NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, which are set for Nov. 11 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.
