LFSN Fall Softball Update with Dot Richardson

With the fall softball season under way, LFSN reporter Nick Pierce had a chance to interview fourth-year Head Coach Dot Richardson.

Liberty opened its fall schedule with the Liberty Fall Round Robin, last Saturday at Liberty Softball Stadium. The Lady Flames went 3-0, with two wins over McDaniel College and one over Lynchburg College. The team has four remaining games this fall, including a game against Virginia Tech and home-and-home series with Virginia.

Sunday, Oct. 2 – Women's College Military Appreciation Tournament
Botetourt Sports Complex – Troutville, Va.
3 p.m. – Liberty vs. Virginia Tech
5 p.m. – Liberty vs. Richard Bland College

Friday, Oct. 21 – Liberty at Virginia (10-inning game), 6 p.m. – Charlottesville, Va.
Friday, Oct. 28 – Virginia at Liberty (10-inning game), 6 p.m. – Lynchburg, Va.

Liberty's roster features three returning all-conference players, in pitcher Julia DiMartino and outfielders Jaclyn Amader and Tori Zavodny, in addition to catcher, 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year Alexia Taylor. The Lady Flames add a talented group of seven freshmen to the roster this season.

Last year, the Lady Flames went 31-28, including 16-8 in Big South play to finish third in the conference. Liberty set a program record with 16 conference wins, in addition to posting a program record in single-season strikeouts.
