Flames Continue Fall Slate at Elon Fall Invitational

Tournament Draws

The Liberty Flames men's tennis team continues its 2016 fall season this weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational. The invitational will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and starts on Friday morning at 9 a.m. Play wraps up on Sunday.

Max Borcuti, Diego Castano, Eddie Gutierrez, Ryker Heller, Alex Poynter and Vince Salas will represent Liberty at the invitational. Live results for the event can be found at the link provided in the schedule/results panel of

Fifteen teams will participate in the Elon Invitational: Elon, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, NC Central, NC Wesleyan, Old Dominion, UNC Asheville, Charlotte, UNCG, UNCW, USC Upstate and Winthrop.  

Friday: One singles session followed by two doubles sessions
Saturday: Two singles sessions and only C1 doubles will play doubles on Saturday
Sunday: One doubles session followed by a final round of singles in the main and back draw

Last Time Out
The Flames opened their fall 2016 campaign at the South Carolina Upstate Fall Classic on Sept. 9-11. The duo of Eddie Gutierrez and Ryker Keller captured a title in the Black doubles flight, while freshman Chase Burton won two singles matches and a double match over the three-day tournament. Burton also recently competed in the USA F29 Futures in Irvine, Calif.

Looking Forward
Following the Elon Invitational, Liberty will be back in action at the Tulsa ITA Saint Francis All-American tournament in Tulsa, Okla. on Oct. 1-9.
