Rod Myers Invitational live stats

The Flames will begin the fall portion of their 2016-17 schedule this weekend when they participate in the 2016 Rod Myers Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Duke at it's home course, the Duke University Golf Course, in Durham, N.C., (par 72, 7,154 yards).

The Rod Myers Invitational has appeared on the fall portion of Liberty's schedule each of the last four seasons.

The Flames posted a pair of fourth-place finishes in 2012 (301-286-285-872/+8) and 2013 (294-282-293-869/+5). Last year, Liberty kicked off its Big South championship run with a sixth-place showing at the Rod Myers Invitational (290-298-296-884/+20).

The 14-team Rod Myers Invitational field includes seven teams who finished the 2015-16 season ranked inside the top 50 final Golfstat national rankings.

The field includes: Florida State (No. 17), Wake Forest (No. 19), USF (No. 21), Duke (No. 25), North Carolina (No. 30), Penn State (No. 36) and Kansas (No. 50).

Liberty finished just outside this group, ranking No. 62 following a Big South title run and making their fifth NCAA Regional appearance in the last six seasons.

Four of the five players who helped the Flames finish in sixth place last year are part of head coach Jeff Thomas' starting five this weekend.

Isaiah Logue had one of his better showings of the fall schedule in 2015 at the Rod Myers Invitational, finishing in third place with a 5-under par 211 (67-73-71-211). Overall, Logue led the Flames in 2015-16 with a 72.62 season stroke average and five top-10 finishes.

Both Hutson Chandler (74-76-76) and Gabe Lench (75-76-75) finished last year's event tied for 36th place with a 10-over par 226. Chandler posted a 75.18 season stroke average in 2015-16 and Lench finished his first year at Liberty with a 74.71 season stroke average.

Mickey DeMorat finished tied for 54th place with a 15-over par 231 (74-76-81) in his first Division I collegiate event. The Eastern Florida State transfer finished the 2015-16 season ranked second on Liberty's roster with a 72.92 season stroke average and tied Logue with five top 10 finishes.

The lone new face on Liberty's Rod Myers Invitational starting five is Kieran Vincent, a freshman from Harare, Zimbabwe. Vincent was twice named the St. Johns College Golfer of the Year (2015-16) and was the 2016 Zimbabwe Junior Golfer of the Year.

Play gets underway on Saturday morning at 7:35 a.m. with 36 holes of continuous play scheduled for the day. The event will conclude with a final 18 holes of completion on Sunday.
